WHAT THE CLIENT ASKED FOR

Author needs a cover designer for a 12-book fiction series, including full print wraps and series branding, with a budget of $100–$300 per cover.

[HIRING] Long-term cover designer for a 12-book fiction series – full print wraps + series branding ($100–$300/cover) Hi everyone. This is my first series, and for a long time I wasn’t sure my writing was good enough to put out there. I decided that if I didn’t try now, I never would, so here I am. Seven of the twelve books are written and in editing, and the last five are still being written. I’m looking for one artist to take this whole journey with me, not twelve different people. I want someone who gets to know this world as it unfolds and helps give it a face. I’ve tried working with my best friend before, but covers weren’t her thing, and I realized I need someone who really knows this craft. Honestly, I need your guidance as much as your art. I have a general idea: something minimalist, maybe built around an emblem or insignia for each book, like a faction symbol tied to the story. But I don’t have a real direction beyond that, and I’d love to hear where you’d take it. I’m happy to talk through the books with you so we can figure it out together. For each book I’ll need a full print wrap (front, spine, and back) and an ebook cover, with the title, series name, book number, and the author name Viktor Bale, which is my pen name. I’ll provide the back-cover blurb and print specs as each book is ready. I’d also love help building a consistent series look and typography, and maybe even finding or creating a font that fits the series. My budget is $100–$300 per book, all-inclusive, paid per book as each one is done. But that's just a starting point from my research. If you think the work is worth something different, tell me, and we’ll agree on a price before anything starts. I value artists and their work. I’ve watched someone I care about undervalue herself as an artist and slowly learn to charge what she’s worth, and I don’t want to be the kind of client who makes that harder. The first seven will come about a month apart as editing wraps up, and the last five will have longer gaps while I finish writing. A week or so per cover would be ideal, but I’m flexible. For rights, I’d like a commercial license that covers the books, marketing, and merch, plus the source files. I’d also like the option to buy full rights later at a price we agree on now, especially for the emblems. Full rights start at $500 per cover here, which is $6,000 for the series, and that’s more than I can put down right now on a series that hasn’t launched yet. Human-made work only, please. No AI. If you’re interested, comment below with your portfolio (I won’t be answering DMs), what you’d charge, what’s included, and whether you can see yourself sticking with this for the next few years. Please add “Compliance Ensures Safety” to your comment so I know you read this far. It matters to me to find someone who’s genuinely interested in the series. Thanks for reading. I’m excited to meet the person who’ll help bring this series to life.
